The Hartford Leads the Way in Underwriting
The American Cancer Society estimates
186,295 prostate cancer cases and 179,920 breast cancer cases in the US
by the end of 2008.1 While it's a diagnosis no one wants to hear, the
chances of surviving cancer and living a full life are far better than
they used to be.
In response to the improved
prognosis, The Hartford has become the first insurer in the nation to
offer life insurance at standard rates to survivors of treated prostate
cancer and early stage breast cancer. Your client could obtain a life
insurance policy at the same rate as a person with no history of cancer.
Clients that would qualify include:
 |
Male, diagnosed at age 70 or older with clinically localized prostate
cancer, Gleason score, a common assessment, of 6 or less,
pre-treatment PSA 10 or lower, post treatment PSA 0.5 or lower,
treated with radiation. |
 |
Male, diagnosed age 60 or older, with organ confined prostate cancer,
Gleason grade 6, pre-treatment PSA 10 or lower, post treatment PSA
undetectable, treated with surgery. No perineural involvement (no
cancer with nerve cells) or capsular extension on biopsy. |
 |
Male or female, diagnosed at age 40 or older, with breast cancer that
measures 1cm or less, well differentiated, with favorable tumor
markers, treated with surgery and lymph node evaluation with no cancer
in lymph nodes. |
